The Seagrass project involved creating an all-caps OpenType font inspired by bubbly surfboard lettering and coastal aesthetics, designed for Pear Drop Studio to serve sustainability-focused travel and hospitality businesses. Reflecting surf culture's friendly vibe, the typeface combines fluid, irregular strokes with cohesive forms resembling seagrass and water flow. Targeting small coastal business owners (ages 28–45) who value sustainability and authenticity, the project balanced readability with visual appeal for versatile use in print and digital applications. Deliverables included the typeface, a hotel-inspired specimen poster, and a laser-cut wood artifact, with standout features like a water drop-shaped “A” and seashell-like “O.” The font shines in the Seagrass Surf Hotel logo, embodying Pear Drop Studio’s commitment to nature and design excellence.
